Random Fall Stuff

Fall finally seems to be upon us here in Kansas City. The trees are finally participating in the whole changing color thing ( I was nervous for a while), and fall activities are in full swing.....

We visited a corn maze a couple of weeks ago with some of Zach's work friends... there is nothing like 5 engineers trying to figure their way through a maze, they even started running at one point to see who would figure it out first.... boys will be boys...
Oh, and I just followed Zach around, for some reason I thought he would make a better navigator....

Trying to take a break from our intake of garlic.... but it is a losing battle, usually this bowl is full.

The weirdest tree ever, half brilliant orange, half deep green...

Yep, fall means Halloween. I set out a goal not to spend much money, so we had to work with stuff we already had. I own a lot of black clothing, so I just needed to purchase ears and a tail and Voila!...a cat. Zach had everything but the wig, mustache, and glasses....the rest seemed to fall into place. By the way, he is Albert Einstein, not a yeti as my dad thought...

Nox was not impressed with my costume.

Nox posing in place of Zach here. We finally went to see the musical "Wicked", it was literally five blocks from our loft..... sigh, the perks of living in a city.

Been drinking lots of this....

Been doing lots of this.....

We have been making a big batch of soup on the weekends for the last couple of weeks, and freezing half to save for a rainy (or snowy) day. This week was sausage tortellini ....

YUM!

Hudson Bay Lovin'

Last  Saturday we finally went to our storage unit and retrieved our winter boxes. I was so excited to wear a pea coat and wrap myself up in a scarf. The fall weather is settling in, and with it, I am ready to get comfy and cozy. One item I have been wanting to add to my home collection for quite a while is a Hudson Bay blanket. They remind me of the west, and I adore the stripes. This pattern seems to embody everything about the coming winter season.....

Isn't this ad just fabulous?

Weekend Roses

It was nice to get outside and take some photos this weekend. The weather was absolutely lovely. We spent some time in the rose garden at our favorite park. I am amazed by these lovely flowers and how they are still blooming in abundance!

Navy

The weather is finally starting to act like fall. Leaves are falling and crisp cool winds fill the afternoons. There is something lovely about this time of year that gets me into a  cozy and moody state of mind. I'm not talking about the moody of the bipolar variety, rather like everything feels more dramatic and epic in the fall landscape. The color navy seems to embody the term "moody" for me, it is a classic, but it tends to change its feel according to where and how it is used.

Love these pendants, want them in every color in every room.

Um, yes...

Picture Update

I am always in awe of my husband's culinary ability. This week he made roast chicken and vegetables, it was
divine....

I tried to be equally amazing by roasting tomatoes, I was only a hundred degrees and an hour off...

We were able to take a quick trip to St. Louis, go to a concert and visit the arch

We got there bright and early and were the first ones up to the top!

A bird picture for dad........ House Sparrow?
