Laundry

Today I have been dreaming of my very own laundry room (lame, right?)  I am getting a little frustrated with sharing our washer and dryer with 30 other people, it's dark, damp, dirty, and no on ever seems to clean out the dryer vents after use. It is easy to say I am getting a little too type-A about the whole thing, but come on people, don't leave your washed load in the washing machine ALL DAY, there are timers on them for goodness sake, and try to wipe up your spilled laundry detergent off of the floor, evidently putting into the machine is too difficult...

Canopy

The bedroom is a place where you should be able completely and utterly relax. After we installed our headboard, it was crystal clear how important it is to have a good relationship with your bed. It is your sanctuary at the end of a long day; a big warm hug for you to fall asleep in, and  nothing says comfort and elegance like a canopied bed...

Picture Update

Here is what's new in the Tyrrell world.....

Indulgences:  Spending a little extra on flowers to liven up this dreary month

Little Accomplishments: One new years resolution is complete. Our headboard is up and I am loving it! Crazy what how little changes can make a big difference, it's like we have another room in our loft!

Taking more time to : not do a darn thing

On our minds... Trying to find the silver lining in what we do

On the Menu : Creamy Tomato Basil soup

On our agenda.. note to self, try to teach dogs to put toys back in basket... I about killed myself trying to walk across the living room last night... an antler landmine!

Patterned Floor

Word on the street is that one big trend for 2014 will be "Pattern Under Foot", or patterned tile flooring. From what I've seen so far, I think some of the options are drop-dead gorgeous, but I still don't know if I could ever commit to full-blown patterned floors outside of the bathroom or kitchen. As usual, I am drawn to pattern that looks a little worn, with a classic feel... Here are some of my favorites for this year's biggest craze...

January

I can hardly believe that another year is upon us. 2013 was full of firsts, lots of stress, tears, but also laughter and growth. We are happy that our path has stopped in Kansas City for a little while, but we are still looking forward to future adventures.
It has been frigid here the last week, I mean, really really really cold. We finally received a decent amount of snow this weekend, the parks and streets are bathed in white, bringing whispers of the new year; new beginnings and a clean slate.  Perhaps it is the fact that I am surrounded by snow, but the color white has been on my mind and along with that the ideas of  Purity and simplicity.
