Dear Kansas City,

Almost There

We are a wee bit stressed out around here lately. Can't believe how quickly September 26th is creeping up on us. My mom was in town to help with the packing/repacking and inventory-taking, I'm pretty sure I would have had a full blown melt down without her help. Somewhere in there, we had our four year anniversary, Newton generated a lovely infection on his right hip, and we have lost count on the number of stubbed toes received from the countless stacked boxes around our loft. We were able to spend last weekend with our outstanding friends, and so now I feel that we have given everyone we know a hug goodbye. Still need to sell our cars, confirm more appointments, and sign more paperwork. I will be doing the world's most amazing happy dance once all four of us arrive at our new destination safely in one piece.

Ka-Pow

So let's just say that our home finding trip to Germany was....... well...... hellish. We are now best friends with the sentiment "All's well that ends well". We found a place that will be perfect for all four of us, but more on that later.

Meanwhile in KC the packing, unpacking, moving, rearranging, stacking, give-away, and throw-away are in full motion.

Good lord... wish us luck...

Picture Update

Moving to another country is no cake walk, but we know it will be worth it. Thank goodness for the help provided by Z's company, I cannot imagine trying to figure all of these ins and outs on our own. As time begins to wind down we still need to find a new address (will be house hunting in Cologne next week!), sell both of our cars, move everything from our storage unit into our tiny loft, catalog and organize said things... just to name a few. Will try to keep the blog updated throughout the pandemonium.

Picture Update

It feels like we have been waiting for this move FOREVER... and now that we are getting down to the last couple of months, there doesn't seem to be enough time to get through the massive amount of things that need to be accomplished before our move date. We had a phone conversation with our realtor in Cologne this week, and it left us a little apprehensive. On top of finding a place that takes two large dogs, we also need to have a space with a kitchen (Germans take their entire kitchen when they move, even in rentals, weird huh?). Next we have to talk to an immigration expert, which is going to be important for me to know if and how I can continue with my art while abroad.

Between trips home, family weddings, our house hunting trip and moving our stuff, we only have a few more solid weeks in KC. I am trying to enjoy the calmness of everyday activities before the super stressful moving mindset sets in, so here are some "normal" things that are happening around here...

Number of infected dog paws: 4 (hence the socks)
Times spent in a flooded park bathroom during a tornado: 1
Start Date for Germany: Oct 1st
Gallons of homemade ice cream devoured: 1
Day of heat index over 110 degrees: Lost count
Shaved dogs: 1
