Part 2

Oh, sweet Scotland.  The lakes, the sky, the wildlife, the fishing, the food, the whiskey, the castles and the company made for an outstanding trip.  We started way up north and worked our way down. Zach and I had visited this area before and could not wait to share it all with mom and dad. I think they love it now as much as we do. This was a special trip for many reasons. It was first and foremost, a celebration of my dad, who had his 70th birthday while we were there. We love him so much. It was also our first vacation with Davy. It definitely had its challenges, like no sleep and a grumpy car seat baby, but it was worth it a thousand times over.

Happy Birthday, dad

Part I

We feel so lucky to have been able to spend an entire month with mama and papa Konkel. I only wish it could have lasted longer. I could go on and on here, but I am sure you can imagine how much love was spread during this time. It is one of my life's greatest pleasures seeing my son with his grandparents. I have so much to be thankful for, this trip was outstanding.

We started in our little Arlesheim and around Basel, giving everyone time to recover from their jet lag and the get the "lay of the land" as it were. I loved showing my parents around all the places that I visit regularly. We love it here and I think they do, too.

It was incredible to have some extra help with Davy. I hope my mom isn't too worn out by all the cleaning and dog walking she accomplished. My dad was the king of the stroller and receiving hugs and kisses from D. They shared many an afternoon looking through the bird book together (a sight that I will miss in my living room). I miss the mornings most, Davy is an early riser and it was lovely having someone to share coffee with, to talk about what the day will bring and to watch the sun come up.

We spent our first "trip" a bit south east in Brienz. The lakes and mountains are unreal. We stayed in a traditional chalet with a view to die for. We didn't have a bed for Davy so he ended up sleeping in an old basket.
