Swoon: Blackberry Farm

This luxury resort in Walland, Tennessee is something dreams are made of.  Along with the  spectacularly designed cottages, farmhouses and barns, this place also offers cooking classes, fly fishing, horse back riding, hiking and a spa... what more could anyone ever want? It started as a 9- room farmhouse that played host to friends and family. Due to the perfect combination of the Smokey views, farm to table cuisine, and gorgeous interiors, it wasn't long before it expanded into one of the top rated hotel/inns in the United States.

BLACK and white

From time to time, it makes me happy to drive around and look at gorgeous houses, dreaming and redoing little things in my head. I am partial to the black and white homes, which isn't really a surprise. They always seemed to be the most traditional, and in my opinion they look the most well built as well. Recently, I have been noticing this color combo in reverse, that is, black as the dominant color with white accents. I am not quite prepared to commit to liking it more than the traditional combo, but it is still strikingly beautiful....

Silver

One thing I have been putting off for the last few weeks is polishing my silver, it seems like such an impositions sometimes, but one look at these makes me remember why it is worth it....

Picture Update

It has been freakishly warm here the last few days. I am almost convinced that it is actually March, and then I get really depressed when I remember that it is only January. There are many more days of chilly weather ahead. Life has been treating us well; we spent a lovely weekend outside with the boys, taking advantage of this fleeting heat wave.

I have permanently commandeered our only working space in the kitchen as my art camp, but I am just tired of picking it up and getting it out two or three times a day. This means less workable cooking space, but a happier me, so I guess its worth it.

I tried a new recipe for french onion soup just to have the opportunity to use my new bowl ( I'm in love, weird, I know...) it  is amazing how the little things really do make my day.
