Hudson Bay Lovin'

Last  Saturday we finally went to our storage unit and retrieved our winter boxes. I was so excited to wear a pea coat and wrap myself up in a scarf. The fall weather is settling in, and with it, I am ready to get comfy and cozy. One item I have been wanting to add to my home collection for quite a while is a Hudson Bay blanket. They remind me of the west, and I adore the stripes. This pattern seems to embody everything about the coming winter season.....

Isn't this ad just fabulous?

Weekend Roses

It was nice to get outside and take some photos this weekend. The weather was absolutely lovely. We spent some time in the rose garden at our favorite park. I am amazed by these lovely flowers and how they are still blooming in abundance!

Navy

The weather is finally starting to act like fall. Leaves are falling and crisp cool winds fill the afternoons. There is something lovely about this time of year that gets me into a  cozy and moody state of mind. I'm not talking about the moody of the bipolar variety, rather like everything feels more dramatic and epic in the fall landscape. The color navy seems to embody the term "moody" for me, it is a classic, but it tends to change its feel according to where and how it is used.

Love these pendants, want them in every color in every room.

Um, yes...

Picture Update

I am always in awe of my husband's culinary ability. This week he made roast chicken and vegetables, it was
divine....

I tried to be equally amazing by roasting tomatoes, I was only a hundred degrees and an hour off...

We were able to take a quick trip to St. Louis, go to a concert and visit the arch

We got there bright and early and were the first ones up to the top!

A Fall Recipe

Fall is my favorite, without a doubt. I love the colors, weather, food, clothes; you name it, I like it. This strong feeling of love has left me thinking about what makes the perfect fall, so here is a simple recipe for you to follow.....

2 cups of fall picnics. Take time to enjoy the cool, crisp weather of fall before the winter hits...

1/2 cup chocolate and 1/2 cup of caramel goodness. Make a delicious treat that is particular to the fall season...

A half gallon of fashion whipped into a frenzy.... add scarves, chunky sweaters, leather bags, and bright fall colors to your wardrobe...

A healthy sprinkle of fall decor, add fall color and texture to your home, remember simple and natural is usually best....

Double the serving size for a fall soup, eat your heart out. This one is minestrone and garlic crouton...

And finally, 100 pounds of carved pumpkins.....

Devour immediately, and enjoy your fall!

They're Everywhere!

Oh, you know, it's just a warthog, wearing a top hat, in the kitchen...

Even though decorating with mounts is not a new concept, I seem to be seeing quite a lot of them these days. Traditionally they are hanging over the fireplace, or in your husband's office or in the den, but they seem to be slowly creeping into other parts of the house... like, the kitchen. And I love it!

I am seeing kitchens that look more like multipurpose rooms rather than just a work space. It is nice to have a clean kitchen, but you don't want it to look like you could perform surgery on your island. An animal mount is a great way to bring a relaxed feel into the space. It looks and feels similar to your living room or bedroom.

The placement of the mount makes it the focal point of the room, not the gigantic vent hood.

Again, this one is on the vent hood. I feel like this kitchen would be boring without it...

Charming

This kitchen is a great example of bringing the "room" to the kitchen. The animal head, painting and table lamp make this space feel relaxed and cozy.

I dearly want a fireplace in my kitchen...
